'The Runabouts that Jack Builds'... Humbled to see the crew on the cover of this month's Watercraft magazine, and sincere thanks to Colin for his wonderful article encapsulating our Jack:
"What Makes A Boatbuilder? – Colin Henwood meets fellow Thames boatbuilder and member of the WBTA, Jack Livesey, creator of a fleet of modern electric versions of a classic Bugatti runabout"
Another great year at the TTBF, where we displayed work-in-progress Spruce; one of our four replica Bugatti You-Yous; and on the water, Camellia wowed visitors with her newly varnished hull, at the slipper-launch formation sail-bys.
Spruce was a great opportunity to view the structure of a boat, normally largely hidden by fit-out. This major restoration incorporates the original topsides with a completely rebuilt centreline.

An wonderful day at Windsor Castle for the Maker of the Year presentation by Heritage Crafts/Marsh Charitable Trust. It was such an honour for Jack to be a finalist, a huge congratulations to winner Andrew Grundon (pictured right) of signaturesigns and fellow finalist Phil Parkes. Also representing boatbuilding was Volunteer of the Year Jane Kerr for her work with the Wooden Boatbuilders' Trade Association, pictured right with chairman and former Maker of the Year Colin Henwood.

After some structural work and general TLC we were delighted when Dee-Wite runabout Pipkin won Best Foreign Boat at the Windermere rally. This was such an interesting boat to work on, very original including its Gray Marine engine, great to see this much loved vessel back on the water.

So proud to see our Bugatti You-Yous featured in Classic Boat again, in this great article on 'new classic' motorboats by Steffan Meyric Hughes: "What looks like the tiny inboard Bugatti engine mounted in the bows actually conceals an electric motor, good for four knots...".
Another brilliant TTBF in Henley this summer despite some pretty extreme weather! Delighted to bring recent completion Frida after a major redeck and brightwork overhaul. On our stand Spruce got a lot of interest with demos of the reconditioned Austin 7 Elephant engine and work-in-progress hull rebuild. Thanks as always to the organisers of this amazing festival.

An absolute honour for Jack to be one of three shortlisted for Maker of the Year by Heritage Crafts/Marsh Charitable Trust. A huge thank you for this recognition and fingers crossed until the announcement in November!

Delighted to bring our Bugatti replica You-You two to Junction 11 studios where photographer Tommy Bolwell captured the detail on digital SLR and medium format.
Despite extreme heat we all made it out for the sailbys at the Traditional Boat Festival where PBC picked up three awards for the small craft we brought. Many thanks to the organisers for another great year https://www.tradboatfestival.com/
An exciting day at Queensford lakes water trialing the amazing Niniette III with the very fitting You-You II as rescue boat! See pics by Reel Rebellion at https://www.reelrebellion.com/ and featured in Octane magazine October 2022 https://www.octane-magazine.com/
"Mahogany, Copper and Lithium: A boatbuilder's tale of the newly reimagined Bugatti You-You". On 28 May 2022 the Bugatti Trust Museum and Study Centre welcomed one of four recently completed replicas of the 1940s Bugatti You-You launch. Boatbuilder Jack Livesey of Paradise Boat Co presented on this ambitious project, alongside Alex Evans who provided a historical background on Ettore Bugatti's endeavours in boatbuilding. The illustrated talk was given to Bugatti Trust members who were fascinated by the extraordinary craftmanship of the You-You as well as the detailed presentation. Earlier on in the day, visitors to Prescott Historique were also able to view.
An opportunity to share our reasons for sourcing reclaimed mahogany and more detail on our processing methods.
A first showing: #1 of our You-Yous alongside Burlington. Following the festival, we were delighted by Colin Henwood's Watercraft Magazine article praising our replica Bugatti.
At the Thames Traditional Boat Festival special permission was given for Jack to show speedboat Burlington alongside showstopper Berylla. Earlier in the year we also conducted speed trials of both boats at the ISIS watersport lakes in Reading.
